The Environment isn’t a Resource
Modern life feels stable.
Food arrives.
Medicine works.
Infrastructure holds.
Information flows constantly.
On the surface, it appears as if humanity has reduced constraint and increased control.
But constraint hasn’t disappeared.
It has moved.
The defining structural shift of modern society isn’t technological progress alone. It’s the redistribution of load across nested systems.
What used to be absorbed directly by individuals is now absorbed elsewhere.
Individual → institution → infrastructure → environment.
We are living inside buffers that are doing more work than we realise.
